Dear Parent/Carer

I hope you have had an enjoyable Christmas and New Year.

I write to you with very disappointing and disturbing news. Since mid-December the Academy has suffered five break-ins and has had substantial damage to doors, windows and the internal fabric of the building. We have also experienced during the break-ins loss of important equipment. This is unprecedented in my nine years at the Academy.

Students at Wingfield and the wider community view the Academy in the highest regard and have assisted in maintaining the building and its resources to be viewed as one of the best in Rotherham. We believe that the perpetrators are local and know the school. The most recent damage and theft will undoubtedly impact on students and their learning despite every effort being made to ensure that the Academy is safe and secure.

It is my opinion that we need to work together to stop this happening and identify the culprits. If anyone has information or may have been offered items of equipment that obviously belong to the Academy I would be grateful if you could make contact with us as soon as possible by contacting reception between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm Monday to Thursday and 8:00 am and 3:30 pm Friday on Rotherham 513002.

We are working closely with the police and the PFI company that manage the building to do all we can to prevent further break-ins. I would be grateful for any support that you can provide.

Yours sincerely
